I finally got my hands on one of the new Think Unos this spring. Because Wisconsin is sort of in the middle of nowhere relative to the commercial transport routes, it seemed like I was about the last person in the world to actually lay my eyes on the ski and I had to bear with the initial reports coming in from Australia, Washington, Rhode Island and elsewhere. Finally, I took delivery of the ski, unwrapped it, and. But, like any other true paddler, I donned my basic paddling attire, snuck past my wife, who's eyes were fixed on "Dancing with the Stars" and her bowl of ice cream, and made it out of the house unseen for the initial test paddle.
Special thanks to Mark Ceconi who has edited all my reviews. When I got home that afternoon and put in on the waters of the Sakonnet River, lo and behold, I discovered I could indeed paddle it in the ocean, with some caveats. What a difference a few months makes. Did my skills improve that much while paddling the V12? Or more to the point were my first impressions 30 minutes of paddling not initially accurate, or did I just need to put more time in the bucket?
Sune Wendleboe is a mad keen Danish paddler living in Oslo, Norway; he's owned 16 surfskis in the 6 years he's been paddling! He's just had the opportunity to try out no fewer than four of the latest, fastest elite level surfskis from around the world. Here's what he found. Taking a first look at the new 3 rd Generation Think Uno Max will make you feel just like that — wow! Shape, design and finish — all are very much near perfect. Having waited 6 months since ordering mine, it suddenly arrived in Stavanger, a 7-hour drive from Oslo. The profile of the Think Uno Max is impressively fast-looking.
